TotalAV is a consumer security suite built around a clean, approachable interface. Alongside core antivirus, its paid tiers commonly add a VPN and system optimization tools, with coverage across Windows, macOS, Android and iOS.
Below we look at what each tier includes and the kind of user the all-in-one package fits. Plan names and prices change often, so check the renewal price on TotalAV’s official pages before you buy.
Strengths and limitations
Strengths
- Clean, beginner-friendly apps across desktop and mobile
- Tune-up and clean-up tools in every plan; the VPN comes with higher tiers
- Cross-platform coverage for mixed-device households
Limitations
- Bundled extras add value only if you actually use them
- First-term pricing typically rises at renewal
- Tier contents vary by region and change over time — verify before buying
Who it’s for
- People who want a simple, all-in-one suite — on a tier that includes the VPN
- Users who value an uncluttered interface over deep configuration
Who should look elsewhere
- Power users who want granular control and standalone tools
- Anyone who already pays for a preferred VPN
Is TotalAV worth it?
For people who want one simple app instead of several tools, it can be. TotalAV’s official site lists real-time protection alongside WebShield (warnings about scam and phishing sites), tune-up tools, Adblock and Data Breach Monitoring — with Total VPN in the Internet Security and Total Security plans and Total Password only in Total Security — in one uncluttered app across Windows, Mac, Android and iOS.
It’s weaker value if you only need antivirus on a single PC — Windows already includes real-time protection — or if you won’t keep track of the renewal date. Most of the doubts people have about TotalAV are about pricing and renewal rather than whether the software works; our guide to whether TotalAV is legit covers that side in detail.
What TotalAV sells in the US
TotalAV's pricing matrix lists three current plans: Total AV Plus (four devices), Internet Security (six devices) and Total Security (eight devices). The older Antivirus Pro is no longer sold to new customers.
- Every plan includes real-time antivirus, phishing and ransomware protection, system tune-up tools and Total Adblock, plus WebShield, TotalAV's warnings about unsafe sites.
- Total VPN comes with Internet Security and Total Security; it isn't part of Total AV Plus.
- Total Password, the password manager, is included only in Total Security.
Who you buy from in the US
TotalAV runs one international site rather than a US one. Its terms of service name Total Security Limited (UK) and Total Security U.S. LLC, both part of Point Wild, and they require disputes to go to individual arbitration rather than class actions.
TotalAV plans and renewal: what to check
According to TotalAV’s terms (checked October 2026), plans renew automatically, and renewals are billed at the regular rate unless otherwise stated — so the first-year price is a promotion, not the long-term cost. Before you buy, check:
- How many devices the plan covers.
- Which features are included on that plan — VPN, ad blocker, password manager, breach monitoring.
- The renewal price shown in the checkout or the terms.
TotalAV’s refund and renewal terms
TotalAV's plan pages say plans renew automatically at the regular rate until cancelled. Its money-back guarantee covers 30 days on annual and biannual plans and 14 days on monthly, quarterly and add-on purchases — counted from the first purchase or the renewal date — and annual subscribers get a reminder email up to 30 days before renewal.
TotalAV on Windows, Mac, iPhone and Android
TotalAV supports Windows, macOS, Android and iOS. Its help centre says the iPhone app doesn't run an antivirus scanner — it offers WebShield in Safari, a VPN and data-breach checks instead — and the Windows app doesn't support ARM-based PCs.
TotalAV documents apps for Windows, macOS, Android and iOS, and its simple interface is the same idea everywhere — which helps when you’re setting it up for less technical family members. Feature availability still differs by platform.
On iPhone, Apple’s app sandboxing means no security app can scan your other apps; expect the mobile app to focus on web protection, the VPN and account tools rather than a classic virus scan.

Our verdict
TotalAV suits people who want antivirus and clean-up tools — plus a VPN on the higher tiers — in one tidy package without fuss. If you prefer to pick best-in-class tools separately, or you won’t touch the extras, a leaner plan may be a better fit.
